I’m warming to this one. 

My mother, who finally finished the trilogy with us, proclaimed this ​“the best of the three” and ​“just an epic, amazing movie.” She is wrong. But this has a more real emotional core than anything the MCU or Star Wars has done in half a decade, and I’d rather watch it again than the new Thor or Dr. Strange. 

“Because I choose to” is dumb, as is much of the over-philosophizing that plagued the sequels, but at least it’s trying to make me feel something. 

A rejection of nihilism, rather than succumbing to its warm embrace.
